How Janet Phillips is making the Tahoe Pyramid Trail a reality
Pull Quote (200 Character Max):
“I think it really reinforces the idea of our region being a unified place. The trail exemplifies that we are all connected.” * Janet Phillips
Story Summary (100 Character Max):
16 years ago, Janet Phillips began a 114-mile journey. Today, 80 percent of her Tahoe-Pyramid Trail dream is a reality and she wont rest until it's 100 percent complete.

It wasn’t until Janet Phillips finished her 21-year career as the Director of Water Resources at Sierra Pacific Power (now NV Energy) that she really got to work. That was back in 2001, when she got the idea to develop a 114-mile trail paralleling the Truckee River from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake. The long-time river advocate saw an opportunity – to give folks ready access to the entirety of this beautiful community resource.

Pull Quote (200 Character Max):
“Part of our business plan is to grow with our community. We’re nothing without our community, and we’re only as strong as our community.” * Trish Miraglia
Story Summary (100 Character Max):
When news of the fire and its impact reached the owners of Orange Pedal Cycling in Reno, they began a Camp Fire Donation Drive, open to neighbors, cycling enthusiasts and anyone with a desire to help.

Trish and Stefano Miraglia take their commitment to community as seriously as they take their espresso. Inside their bike shop – Orange Pedal Cycling, located in a strip mall at the corner of Booth and California streets – they’ve built a coffee shop equipped with a La Spaziale espresso machine where they serve LavAzza Italian coffee and select local roasters. The storefront was never intended to be a traditional bike shop, but rather a neighborhood spot to connect with others – over cycling and a good cup of coffee.
