In this installment of "4 Fast Fun Facts", we aim a spotlight on Just the Positive contributor Mariah Erickson. We asked this first-grade teacher at Double Diamond Elementary school about the role of positivity in her life. See our conversation below.
1. What’s your day job, and what’s your favorite part of doing what you do?
I am a first grade teacher. My favorite part of my job is the enthusiasm I see in kids eager to learn. I love how excited kids are to be at school. Keeping them engaged all day in learning is my favorite thing!
2. Why do you choose to contribute to Just the Positive?
I love the whole philosophy behind JTP. Who doesn’t want to hear about positive things happening around our community!
3. As a teacher during a pandemic, what positive tips have you learned from your students?
Be in the moment! Each day we are just so thrilled to see each other and have a routine. The learning is just a plus!
4. Who or what can you count on to bring joy and positivity to your day?
In the workplace, that is hands down my students (my "firsties"). They are so happy to see me, it starts every day off just right. At home, my two golden retriever pups make every day pretty special.
